Band Bio = Redneck the Band, formerly known as Rambler, returned to its original name and players in 2004 when twin brothers Dave and Tim Brown returned home to New Mexico from Tulsa, Okla. They rejoined younger brother Jim, the group’s original drummer, and lead guitarist Mike Godfrey. Redneck formed in 1985 when the three Brown brothers played at a Young Life meeting in Albuquerque. That meeting, followed by success in a local talent contest, set the band on its path and they began touring nationally in 1989. Redneck celebrates their 20th anniversary in 2005 with the September release of their first album to feature its original band members since 1991’s Jukebox Moanin’. Beyond this Road features 12 all-new originals written by the band, one song written by former Rambler band member Troy Chavez, and a tasty version of Little Feat’s Willin’. It comes on the heels of the enormous success of the group’s 2001 Starting Over album, the group’s first venture with writing, recording and producing an entire album. "The music on Beyond this Road focuses on the strong singer-songwriter relationship", says Tim Brown, lead vocalist and acoustic guitarist. "It blends traditional music with aggressive lyrics and is a mixture of all the things that influence us because we live in New Mexico. It’s different than what influences writers from Nashville, or the Deep South." For the past five years, the group has toured primarily in Texas and Oklahoma, though they’ve toured the entire United States over the past 16 years. "We’ve been on stage with everyone from Garth Brooks to Alabama to Chris LeDoux and the Western Underground," says Tim. Beyond this Road features the Western Underground’s Bob Jensen on keyboards. |
